On Writing

Some of you have been asking what I’ve been up to since my leave from private practice. Well, other then picking up random wildlife, I’ve been writing multiple stories and creating characters.

It all started with a trip home to New York when I found my long lost doll house furniture.  Oddly enough, the wildlife I rescue didn’t like my dollhouse furniture as much as I did:

So I decided  to create characters and tell stories by photographing them in varies scenes. Raccoon Rosie was my first creation:

Yes, I know, she looks like a cat. My inspiration for this character came from my beloved raccoon Sheila – who is quite possibly the cutest animal to have inhabited the planet.

4.23 097I wanted to capture Sheila’s “essence” rather than her exact appearance. My little Sheila was playful, mischievous, and super cuddly.

As I rescued more critters, I made more friends for Rosie:

This is Dawn the fawn giving me kisses and my little character who is also named Dawn:)

who became “BeBe the Bunny” ( Easter bunny included in pic)

and some of my characters are waiting for their counterparts to be cared for. For example, I’m hoping the creation of “Growly the Bear” will lead to finding a baby bear that needs to be bottle fed;)

In addition to playing with dolls  (ha) to create children’s stories, I am also in the middle of writing an exciting young adult fantasy novel. More on that later – for now, I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I enjoyed taking them:)
